The annual Bartica Regatta slated for the Easter weekend (April 15 to 17) has been given a big financial boost with the sponsorship support of several prominent businesses and

captains of industry in Guyana as part of their “corporate social responsibility.” A presentation of cheques was done on Thursday afternoon in the office of Brian Tiwarie of BK Quarries to Ms. Elizabeth Moonsammy, Secretary of the Bartica Regatta Committee and coordinator of the event.

This is the 62nd year of the annual Bartica Regatta. Among the many supporters over the years have been Brian Tiwarie and his conglomerate BK International. He has been instrumental in attracting more financial support to the event this year.
Included among the new sponsors are China Zhonghao Inc. through its managing director Mr. Chen Ming; Top Brandz Distribution and Tamesh Jagmohan of El Dorado Trading. Mr. Tiwarie disclosed that the sponsors were all interested in the overall development and enhancement of sports in Guyana, but are also interested in the success of this country’s first “green town”- Bartica.

Ms. Moonsammy disclosed that this year’s Miss Bartica Regatta Pageant will be held on Sunday night. On Saturday night there will be a street party and musical showcase featuring an international artiste.
The Bartica Regatta Committee is headed by Regional Chairman Gordon Bradford.
