Two men were arrested in Moco Moco, Rupununi Region 9 on Tuesday after police intercepted a marijuana camp, one acre in size.
Police made the discovery at 3:30hrs where they found thousands of marijuana plants from seedlings to nine feet in height at the marijuana camp. The field was subsequently destroyed along with the tents, hammocks and containers.
The cultivation was an estimated 2.5 kilos. When contacted, Commander Senior Superintendent Rabindranauth Budhram confirmed that two suspects are in custody.
He explained that the division recently received an increase in resources, including ranks, who contributed to the discovery. The Commander also thanked members of the community for assisting the police.
He said that networking, teamwork and communication is an important aspect of policing in addition to the valued feedback of members of communities and society.
