LINDEN Town Week 2017 has been officially launched, and the calendar of activities has already created a buzz of excitement in the mining town.
From April 23 to May 1, Linden will come alive: The hair and nail salons will be packed to capacity; the watering holes and bars will be lively; boutiques and clothing stalls will be stocked with the latest in fashion and brands; Republic Avenue will be alight with with iridescent colour; the clubs will be pulsing with music; and, most importantly, the foreigners will be the talk of the town.
Since its commencement 21 years ago, the celebration of the town of Linden has always been the time of the year to look forward to, and franchise holder, Vybz Entertainment, promises this year to bring culture, fête and fun to the event.
LTW 2017 was launched under the theme, “Reflect, refocus: Moving forward with unity and strength for our community’s development”.
TEAM SPIRIT
Vybz Entertainment Executive Member, Damuka Ngqondo says the team is working extra hard to promote this year’s activities, because the event is going to be bigger and better than ever, as the town will be celebrating 47 years of existence.

Lindeners are going to be treated to nine days of non-stop festivities, including educational, cultural, and sports activities.
These genres of activities will cater to a wide age range, so that from the youngest to the oldest can find something that caters to their needs.
Chief among the activities will be the ever-popular Big-and-Bold Pageant, the Wismar Big Lime, and the Vybz Regional All Black, set for April 26, 28 and 30 respectively.
This year, Vybz will also be collaborating with the Region 10 Tourism Development Association to hosts river tours along Linden’s heritage trail.
ACTIVITIES GALORE!
Other activities include a Gospel Concert on April 24; Open Stage and DJs Night on April 25; and a Day of Sports on April 26. The Bikers Fete and Colour Party are slated for April 28.
The party-fever continues on April 29 with the “Soca Fête”. The nine-day event will culminate with a Wash-Down Party on May 1.
“I am so, so excited about this year’s town week!” gushed Linden resident, Marcia Gray. “I saw the calendar of activities, and I have that feeling of excitement within me!
“I know it will be fun, fun, fun! And I like the way they didn’t focus on partying all the time; that they catered for the kids, the adults, the Christians…
“Everyone has something to look forward to!” Marcia said.
With the thousands of visitors set to swarm the town during this time of year, Vybz wants to assure them all, especially those coming in from overseas, that strict security systems will be in place to ensure their safety.
