Upholsterer on bail for possession of ganja

CITY Magistrate Fabayo Azore on Wednesday released a Princes Street upholsterer on $50,000 bail for the possession of seven grams of cannabis. Ryan Edenborough, 28, pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on February 25, 2017, he had the narcotic in his possession at Thomas Road, Georgetown.
Edenborough had initially pleaded guilty to the charge, however,he entered a not guilty plea after the Magistrate informed him that the offence attracts a minimal jail sentence of three years. In his address to the court, the unrepresented defendant told the court that he was a patron at the Sizzla Kalonji show which was being held at the National Park, when police searched him and found the drug.
Police Prosecutor Simone Payne did not oppose bail but indicated that an analyst certificate is still outstanding from the case file along with a statement. Edenborough was ordered to return to court on March 29, for reports and fixtures.
