If you still haven’t decided what to wear to next week’s Mashramani float parade, or you’re still looking for that perfect outfit, then it may do you well to visit Makin’ Style’s Pop Up Shop which began yesterday at the Court Yard Mall, Robb Street.
The event will run intermittently until February 25 , and veteran designer, Sonia Noel, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Makin Style will be showcasing numerous Mash inspired pieces from several of our local designers. So now is the chance for you to head out and “support we own”.
Get a chance to pick up quite a few off-the-peg designer pieces, among which include unique bags and jewellery. Apart from those special Mashramani-esque outfits for women and men, there will also be a range of interesting swim suits and evening dresses.
“Makin’ Style Boutique seeks to position its designers, not only to increase their visibility but to promote the enormous economic potential of the local fashion industry. Ultimately, this venture seeks to elevate the status of the Fashion industry,” Noel said. “We are building a fashion industry and it is very expensive to operate an individual shop space so I am happy to provide that outlet for local fashion to generate sales.”
Some of the designers expected to have pieces on show include Noel herself, Deborah Mathias, swim suit enthusiast Meleesa Payne, and indigenous designer Vanda Allicock. Sonia’s daughter Shonta Noel will also show her work at the event which is sure to appeal to the younger crowd. Shonta will be showcasing pieces from her label “Crafted by Chey”.
The pop up shop continues tomorrow, and again on February 22 before concluding on February 25.
