A North Haslington, East Coast Demerara, man was on Tuesday placed on $300,000 bail when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court charged with fraudulent conversion.
He was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan. Twenty-six-year-old, Gerald Brown denied the allegation which stated that on February 8, 2017, at Lethem, Central Rupununi, being entrusted with 141 pennyweight of raw gold worth $ 1.6M, which he was to deliver to Roxanne Ramberson, he converted same to his own use and benefit. The facts of the matter were not stated, however, police prosecutor Deniro Jones did not object to bail. Brown’s matter was transferred to the Lethem Magistrate’s Court for March 7.
