Cops still waiting on analyst’s report

CHIEF Magistrate Ann McLennan on Monday remanded a 23-year-old miner, who was reportedly held by police at Port Kaituma, with over three pounds of cannabis sativa for trafficking.Winnick Reid of Dairy, West Bank Demerara, denied that on January 28, at Port Kaituma Water Front, he had 1.4 kilograms of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Reid’s attorney, Stanley Moore, during a petition for bail told the court that his client had no pending or previous matters.

Moore said that Reid was a father of one and was willing to comply with any condition attached to bail.

Prosecutor Jones said that an analyst report was still outstanding from the case file.
The magistrate remanded Reid until February 7, and transferred the matter to the Mathews Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
