RORAIMA Airways has honoured three journalists and two media entities with awards at the company’s Inaugural Correspondents Awards and Appreciation Dinner (RCAA) held on December 16, 2016 at the Roraima Duke Lodge.

The recipient of Roraima’s Highest Award, the Captain Alvin Clarke Award for Militancy and Innovation, was bestowed upon Denis Chabrol of Demerara Waves online News. Hits and Jams Entertainment received the Corporate Media Award for Excellence, 2016; the Corporate Influencer Award was bestowed upon Guyana Times; Outstanding Business Journalism Award was given to Arnon Adams from the Stabroek News and outstanding Journalism in Travel and Tourism to Shauna Jemmott, from the Guyana Chronicle.

???Roraima Correspondents’ Awards and Appreciation Dinner (RCAA) was attended by Directors and Managers of Roraima, Vice-Chair of the Private Sector Commission, Desmond Sears, Directors of the Private Sector Commission, and members of the media fraternity.
Speaking at the event, Roraima’s CEO, Captain Gerald Gouveia, said; “We wanted to say thank you to the media, I don’t believe too many people say thank you to the hard work the media professionals do, so this event is for the media who work day after day, sometimes beyond the call of duty to keep the world updated with current news. Roraima will make the Roraima Correspondents’ Award and Appreciation Dinner a tradition.”

Other than the awards ceremony, the RCAA was a formal dinner and also featured a talent segment and prize giveaways such as: a return ticket to New York; a return ticket to Curacao; a return flight to Havana, Cuba; a day tour to Arrowpoint Nature Resort and Dinner for two at the Roraima Duke Lodge, compliments of Dynamic International Airways, InselAir, Easy Sky, Arrowpoint and the Roraima Duke Lodge, respectively.
