IT appears to be a personal best marathon for the Dorado Speed Swim Club members representing Guyana on Friday at the Amateur Swimming Association of Trinidad & Tobago (ASATT) Invitational.
As the afternoon’s action got underway, all five swimmers in the 100M Freestyle topped their personal bests with the swimmers in the 50m Butterfly following suit.
In the Girls 11-12 100M freestyle,Lian Winter finished with a time of 1:08.74,improving on her entry time of 1:11.20. In the Girls 9-10 of the same event,Maiya Ifill and Monique Watson both improved on their entry times. Ifill clocked 1:25.13,improving on her 1:42.44 while Monique clocked 1:23.58, improving on her entry time of 1:27:21.
Also improving on their times in the Boys 13-14 100M Freestyle were Alex Winter and Ethan Gonsalves. For Winter,he finished with a time of 1:02.92 after posting an entry time of 1:02.92; meanwhile Gonsalves finished with a time of 1:11.94 improving on his entry time of 1:15.14.
In the 50M Butterfly, Ifill also improved on her entry time of 42.45 finishing with a time of 41.26. Lian dropped .50 of a second finishing with 33.36 while teammate Leah Terborg logged a 41.16, improving on her entry time of 42.23
For Gonsalves and Daniel Scott, the improvements were marginal; Gonsalves finished with 38.87 while Scott finished with 29.63; their previous best times being36.95 and 29.86 respectively.
The fine form displayed by the Guyanese during the first two days continued into yesterday with the 800M Freestyle seeing Soroya Simmons, Alex Winter and Daniel Scott taking home silver in their respective age groups. For Scott it was another personal best as he finished with 9:57.95 after an entry time of 10:47.10.
In the Boys 9-10 200m Freestyle, Ethan Gonsalves along with Elliot Gonsalves both had personal bests of 2:43.45 and 2:52.57 respectively. Daniel Scott also finished with a personal best of 2:12.20.
In the Girls 15 and over 200M Freestyle it was another medal for Soroya Simmons, to add to her collection, this time earning a bronze with a time of 2:24.13.
