Bey & Ri-Ri in the lead

THE queen is leading the pack. Beyoncé is going into the 59th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony with nine nominations, including some in top categories like Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.Beyoncé leads Rihanna by one nomination. The Bajan pop princess received eight nods for her critically acclaimed album, “ANTI”. RiRi is not the only artiste to receive eight nominations; her boyfriend, Drake, and Kanye West also have eight nods going into music’s biggest night.
In the Album of the Year category, we see some expected names who released massive projects this year. The nominees include Adele (25); Drake (VIEWS); Sturgill Simpson (A Sailor’s Guide to Earth); Justin Bieber (Purpose); and Beyoncé (Lemonade).
The Record of the Year category also features some notable names like Rihanna and Drake song, “Work”, “Beyoncé’s “Formation”; “Adele’s “Hello”; Twenty One Pilots’ “Stressed Out”; and Lukas Graham’s “7 Years”.
One notable name that deserves some mention is Chance The Rapper who received seven nominations, including Best New Artist, and the covetous category for Best Rap Album. Adele, who had the top album last year, received five nominations.
The 59th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 12, 2017, and broadcast live on CBS at 8 PM EST from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
