icle Atlantic Symphony Steel & Brass Orchestra, Rudy Bishop will host a reception to present certificates to outstanding members, both past and present – actors, panists and singers at Campton Youth Centre, Campbellville, Georgetown on December 10, 2016 from 6pm.He said that the event is to honour its members in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of music and cultural entertainment for those who were unable to be present for the gala black tie affair in Brooklyn, New York in September this year.

At the gala dinner more than 15 persons including, former Mayor and Prime Minister Hamilton Green, veteran journalist/editor Godfrey Wray, Desiree Edghill, Jasper Adams, Henry Rodney, Andre Wiltshire, Frank Lynch, Desmond Fraser, Calvin White, Roy Geddes among others were awarded.
Bishop said it’s his fifth visit to Guyana and these days he enjoys the time spent in Guyana at his home in the city and since he passed the baton over to his son, Steve Bishop, he has more time for leisure.
At the event in Brooklyn he was gifted the Life Time award for his contribution to music for 50 years, where he was instrumental in nurturing many operating out of the official band room at Campton Youth Centre in Campbellville.
Bishop, a former Member of Parliament under the Forbes Burnham administration, is a veteran musician, who made an indelible mark in symphony, steel and brass orchestra locally.
