THE New Hope Community Development Housing Project at Onderneeming, West Coast Berbice will be inaugurated on Tuesday 29th November, 2016.
Forty-three (43) houses, each with sanitation facilities and water components, and a community centre were constructed as part of this project.
FFP’s Housing Projects are funded by overseas donors, mainly in the USA, who sponsor the construction of the houses. These homes are constructed free of cost to underprivileged families, and are two-bedroom structures measuring 20ft.x 16ft. More than thirty-three hundred such housing units (3300) have been built for families across Guyana.
According to an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)-sponsored study, “Guyana faces a housing crisis and has a housing deficit of 20,000 units for low income families.” FFP is desperately trying to reduce that deficit.
The New Hope Development Project was financed by Joseph Roetheli, a citizen of the USA.
Great relief has been brought to the residents of the New Hope community, who previously lived in trying conditions.
Food for the Poor (Guyana) Inc. provides medicines, educational materials, homes, support for orphans and the aged, skills training and much more. More than 96 percent of all donations go directly to programs that help the poor.
