Cops in anti-drugs sweep in Linden …several arrested, charged

SEVERAL men and at least one woman have been arrested and charged with possession and trafficking of narcotics, following a recent police raid in several communities in Linden.A police statement detailed that, in an effort to rid the communities of Wismar and Mackenzie of possession and sale of illicit drugs, ranks recently conducted several raids in the Victory Valley Squatting Area of Wismar and in the Industrial Area of Mackenzie, and several persons were arrested for trafficking in narcotics, possession of narcotics, possession of smoking utensil; and one person has been arrest on a warrant after he failed to attend court to answer a possession of narcotics charge.

Dennis Brewster, 41 years, a farmer of 116 Victory Valley, Wismar, appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Wales Magistrate’s Court yesterday, charged with possession of narcotics. He pleaded not guilty, and was placed on $50,000 bail. The matter has been adjourned until December 20, 2016.

Anastasia Marques, 23 years, of Industrial Squatting Area, Mackenzie, also appeared before Magistrate Nurse, charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. She pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison until December 20, 2016.

Naugubie Saul, 23 years, a mason of Victory Valley Squatting Area in Wismar, was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of a smoking utensil. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to fifty hours’ community service.

Andrew Brian of Wismar was arrested on a warrant for his failure to attend court to answer a charge of possession of narcotics. He has been remanded to prison until December 20, 2016.
