THE shattered backboard at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) will once again undergo renovation since the replacement glass was also shattered.The original GARED backboard was shattered in October during the second basketball game at the Inter Guiana Games (IGG). It was replaced with the old backboard the same night. However, this one was also shattered.
According to a source inside the National Sports Commission (NSC), the replacement backboards will be in Guyana by the end of the week.
“We contacted GARED International who are the makers of original backboards and we have already sourced the backboard, it should be in the country by the weekend,” the source said.
When asked how about the old replacement shattering the source said, “It was a temporary fix to facilitate the games, it wasn’t the official replacement.”
The new replacement should be installed sometime next week with clubs in Georgetown being able to resume their training.
