Amputee on bail for damaging household items

A MAN accused of damaging several household items of his reputed-wife was on Monday released on $25,000 bail by City Magistrate Fabayo Azore.Peter Thomas, 52, pleaded not guilty to the charge which read that on November 11, at Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged a quantity of household appliances valued $1.5M, property of Rita Howard.

The unrepresented man, whose right leg is amputated, explained that on the day in question, he was visiting the mother of his two children.

According to Thomas, while making his way down the step, he accidently slipped and held onto the wall divider which came crashing down with the household appliances inside.

Police Prosecutor Simon Payne made no objection to bail which was granted at $25,000 and the matter stands adjourned until November 28.
