A 37-year-old man was on Monday released on $50,000 bail by City Magistrate Fabayo Azore after pleading not guilty to the illegal possession of marijuana.

Joel Chapman is accused of having in his possession 14 grammes of marijuana on November 12 at Lodge, Georgetown.

His lawyer in a bail application noted that Chapman had suffered from a stroke two years ago which resulted in him having regular seizures. Police prosecutor, Simone Payne objected to bail based on the seriousness and prevalence of the offence; however bail was granted and the matter is adjourned until November 13.
