THE Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) will begin its selection trials for the upcoming Caribbean Development Tournament today.Starting at 05:30hrs in the National Park, boxers will face their first training session. The training will continue at 16:00hrs at the Andrew Lewis Gym.
The GBA has released its list of boxers up for possible selection. The list includes three categories – Elites, Youths and Females. In the Elites category are Richard Subratte, Anil Chiatraj, Kevin Allicock, Julius Kesney, Claimont Gibson, Tefon Green, Joel Williamson, Rhondel Douglas, Colin Lewis, Aquancy Harvey, Joshua Joseph, Marley Ross, Dennis Thomas, Desmond Amsterdam, Markember Pierre, Aluko Bess, Jason Bakker, Bryan Leitch, Renee Lewis and Floyd Cato.
In the Youths category, Keevin Alicock, Akiel Mounter, Christopher Moore and Stephon Smith have been selected. Meanwhile in the Female category Shonette McFarlane is the lone boxer.
The GBA has also named its coaches in Terrence Poole, Sebert Blake, Steele Crawford, Adrian Thomas, Clifton Moore, Wincel Thomas and Gregory Cort.
The Development Tournament will be held in Barbados and the boxers selected will also represent Guyana in Suriname at an international competition.
