GABF content with hosting of 3×3 tournament

THE Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) has expressed its contentment and elation over the successful hosting of the inaugural National 3×3 Boys Under-17 Qualifier tournament. The tournament was held last Sunday on Burnham Court and hosted players from Regions 10, 6, 5, 4, and 3 according to a letter from the GABF.
The letter also stated that the players were from secondary schools which included The Bishops’ High, St Rose’s High, St Stanislaus College, Christ Church Secondary, Kwakwani High School and Tutorial High, in addition to New Amsterdam Multilateral, North Georgetown Secondary, Plaisance Secondary and Cummings Lodge Secondary.
According to a count by GABF National 3×3 Coordinator Mr Junior Andrew on the tournament website, there were 15 teams registered with 60 players, aged 14 to 17.
Played in a last-16 format, there were seven first round games, four quarterfinals, two semifinals and the final where Kwakwani Combined came out victorious.
The GABF expressed appreciation to its group of volunteers including Shania Wilson, Sileena Arjune, Dennis Clarke, Nicolas Casius, Terrence Daniels, Malcolm Powdar and Leona Kyte.
Special appreciation was extended to Chris Bowman who provided a game clock, Michael Singh who provided lunches for the volunteers and the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) for tables, chairs and refreshment for the participants.
