A POST-MORTEM conducted on the body of Dhanraj Ramlal, 71, called “Boxer”, of “R” Blankenburg, West Coast Demerara, has indicated that he died of multiple injuries sustained as a result of being struck down by a motorcyclist last Friday on the Blankenburg Public Road.
Ramlal died hours after motorcyclist Shamshudeen Hannie Mei of 1702 Tuschen Housing Scheme, EBE slammed into him; and Mei has been placed on $200,000 bail. Police say the motorcyclist was proceeding west along the southern side of the roadway at a fast rate when he hit the pedestrian who was walking across the road, causing them both to fall on the roadway. The motorcyclist was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was treated while the pedestrian was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital in an unconscious state.
The pedestrian was then transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 11:00h on Friday.
Ramlal, a father of three and former contractor, was described as an easygoing individual by relatives. “He usually goes over the road to talk with this lady he knows, or sometimes he goes to the shop,” a relative said.
