A 30-year-old miner, who attempted to bribe police officers after he was arrested with cannabis in Bartica Sunday afternoon, will soon appear before the court to answer to several charges.
Police Press Officer Superintendent Jairam Ramlakhan said the suspect, who hails from Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara and works in the interior, was in a house at Fourth Avenue, Bartica, when police acting upon information received swooped down on the premises.

During a search, the lawmen found 133 grams of cannabis in small zip lock packets. Shortly after, he offered the officers $200,000 as an inducement to forego the narcotics charge, but they refused and instead served him several charges.
