THREE persons have been injured in a two-vehicle collision at the corner of Regent and Albert streets on Tuesday evening.The accident involved a route 48 minibus, BTT 4214, and motor car PEE 8062. One of the injured persons is a child.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred at about 20:00h while the motor car was at the junction of Albert Street and as the bus was proceeding in a westerly direction along Regent Street.
“The car man wrong because the bus man had the right of way…The car man put on his trafficator and attempted to speed across the road, but he hit the bus and mek it topple,” an eyewitness told the Guyana Chronicle.
The witness noted that the driver of the motor car appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. “When the people see that the car man was drunk, everybody beat him. Is only because the police come and save him, because he would have gotten some serious licks,” one eyewitness related.
Up to press time last night, the driver of the motor car was in police custody while persons involved in the accident were being treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Both vehicles have been extensively damaged.
