THE East Bank Demerara Praant of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha (GHDS) will today be hosting their annual Diwali Motorcade and Cultural Show at the Diamond Market Tarmac at the Diamond New Housing Scheme, EBD.Showtime is 7:00 pm, and more than fifteen floats have confirmed their participation in this motorcade. It is expected to leave Timehri, EBD at 5:00 pm., and floats will be assembling at the G3 Building, where the first phase of the judging would be conducted, according to a GHDS press release.

There would be several attractions for the cultural show, including Prince Wazir & Band, the Nachgana Dance Academy, artistes from various mandirs, and a special appearance by Ms. India-Guyana, Britney Singh.

Admission is free, but patrons are not allowed to bring alcohol to the event, the release added.

Meanwhile, this is the second year running that the date for the celebration of Diwali is mired in controversy. Government had earlier announced that the national holiday is to be observed on Saturday, October 29.
