Uitvlugt favoured to take points lead in WDFA STAG Beer Senior League

THE Uitvlugt Football Club are highly favoured to take the lead in the points standings of the West Demerara Football Association’s (WDFA)/STAG Beer Senior League when they take on Wales United in the opening fixture of a double-header card, billed for the Den Amstel Community Centre ground from 14:00hrs.Uitvlugt have to date played seven matches and have won six of those encounters while playing to a draw in the other, securing 19 points in the process. They are three points adrift of league leaders Den Amstel who have 22 points, but with seven wins and a draw from their eight matches so far.
However, while Den Amstel lead in terms of points, they have a mere plus 12 goal difference from their eight matches, compared to Uitvlugt’s plus 22 from seven matches.
With this in mind, it is anticipated that the Uitvlugt unit will be going all out for a victory today from 14:00hrs when they take on the seventh team Wales United, who have eight points from 10 matches and a minus eight goal difference.
In the feature game from 16:00hrs, eighth-placed Golden Warriors with five points to their name after eight matches and a goal difference of minus nine will oppose Jetty Gunners, who have a goal difference of minus 25 after playing nine matches, winning won one, drawing one and losing the other seven. They are currently on four points.
The league will continue tomorrow at the same venue with another double-header that will see ninth-place Beavers tackle bottom-of-the-table Veggae Boyz from 14:00hrs, while the feature game brings together fourth-place Pouderoyen and sixth-place Eagles.
Beavers have so far played seven matches. They won one, lost five and drew the other and are on four points with a minus 12 goal difference.
Veggae Boyz, on the other hand, have played nine matches. They won one, lost eight and have three points with a minus 29 goal difference.
Pouderoyen have played seven matches. They won five and were held to draws in the other two. They are on 17 points with a goal difference of plus 21.
Eagles have 12 points from eight matches. They won three, lost two and were held to three draws. Their goal difference is plus 10.
