The prime suspect in the killing of 28-year-old Orette West, of Guyhoc Park,on June 3, 2016 was apprehended Thursday and reportedly confessed to the murder, police confirmed.The incident had occurred shortly after midnight during the usual ‘Thursday Night Lime’ at the Plaisance Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara. The police hunt came to an end after acting on information received regarding the place where the suspect was hiding.
Reports indicate that the suspect and the deceased had an old grievance over the young woman with whom West, a bodywork technician, was at the ‘Line-Top’ lime with. On seeing West, a heated argument ensued between the two men and the suspect, known only as “Kevin”, whipped out a knife and stabbed West before fleeing the scene. The young woman who was with West at the time of the incident gave a statement and cooperated with the police.
