THE football fraternity of Guyana will have the opportunity to see their Golden Jaguars in 3rd round action of the Scotiabank-sponsored Caribbean Football Union’s (CFU) Senior Men’s Championship. After an inspection of the Leonora Stadium by CFU’s appointed official inspector, Barbadian Patrick Beckles, last Thursday night, in the presence of some top officials of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) and Government, the venue was given the green light to host the fixture against Cup holders Jamaica on October 11.
The much-anticipated clash with the Reggae Boyz was in jeopardy after it was made known that the Guyana National Stadium was unavailable to host the game.
The GFF, in a determined effort not to surrender home advantage like they did in the second round versus Curacao, wrote the CFU seeking approval for the Leonora facility which led to the inspector’s affirmative response.
Guyana begin their third round campaign away to neighbour and nemesis Suriname on October 8. (Ras Wadada)
