Den Amstel U-17s remain unbeaten in NAMILCO League

DEN Amstel’s Under-17 team remain unbeaten in the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF)/NAMILCO National Under-17 League after registering a 4-3 win against Slingerz last Sunday at the Den Amstel ground, West Coast Demerara.Playing in the WDFA leg of the Intra-Association National League, the Den Amstel unit won their fifth of five matches mainly through the efforts of Reuben Dainty and Keswin Fraser who both registered doubles.
Dainty scored his double in the second and 35th minutes, while Fraser was on target in the third and 70th minutes.
At halftime, Den Amstel held a 3-1 lead against the visitors as Odel Duncan netted a sixth-minute goal for Slingerz who subsequently levelled the score 3-3 after Duncan registered his double of the game in the 47th and Ronaldo Massay chipped in with one ten minutes later.
Fraser rose to the occasion once again with a 70th minute goal to further solidify Den Amstel’s position at the top of the points table with 15 points; 17 goals for and five against.
Slingerz stay at second in the table with four points from four matches. They won one match, lost two and drew the other.
Meanwhile, when play in the East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) leg of the league continued on Sunday at the Melanie ground, East Coast Demerara, Plaisance came from one goal down to edge Victoria Kings 2-1 while Buxton United and Mahaica Determinators played to a 1-1 stalemate.
In the Plaisance versus Victoria Kings match, Kevin Maxwell sent Victoria Kings into the lead with a 23rd minute goal from the penalty spot and his side held the lead going into the second half, but they were unable to maintain this lead as Jaheel Hinds levelled the score in the 65th minute then produced the sealer 10 minutes later.
In the earlier game that day (Sunday), Kobe Durant gave Buxton United the lead with a 20th minute goal but Ozella Jacobs responded for Mahaica Determinators in the 60th minute to level the score.
