WEST Indies Twenty20 skipper Carlos Brathwaite says the team will be eager to maintain momentum when they face Pakistan in a three-match series in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) next week. The third-ranked Windies have been in superb form recently, following triumph in the T20 World Cup, with a win against second-ranked India in Florida last month.
Brathwaite, who took over the captain’s role from Darren Sammy last month, believes claiming a victory in Pakistan would be another feather in the cap of a team still somewhat in transition.
“I think this is another important series. We just defeated India and it would be a fantastic boost for the Caribbean people for us to come to Dubai, which has been Pakistan’s home for the last few years, come into their backyard and get a series victory against them as well,” Brathwaite said.
“It would say a lot about us as a team, going overseas and contesting a three-game series and coming out on top.”
The Caribbean side will open the tour with a warm-up game against an Emirates Cricket Board XI on Tuesday before facing Pakistan in the opening T20 International three days later at the Dubai International Stadium.
