Taxi driver gunned down in Albouystown

TWO men on a motorcycle gunned down ‘007’ taxi driver Oswald Rambarran in front of the Dharam Sala in King Edward Street, Albouystown as he was allegedly making a delivery of food on Sunday night. The 42-year-old Rambarran, of West Ruimveldt Georgetown, was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

“Is like the entire magazine they empty on him!” one resident said. Another, who spoke with Newssource journalist Gordon Moseley, said he was relaxing in his home when he heard the gunshots. This resident said he heard about nine gunshots, and when he looked out his window, a man was lying dead on the road.

“I heard pi! Pi! Pi! Pi! Like he (the shooter) really wanted to kill the man he was shooting at,” the resident said.

A woman who also spoke with Moseley said some youths were partying in the area when she heard the noise, and she thought firecrackers were being exploded.

The gunmen made good their escape by riding along Sussex Street.

Police are working on the theory that the taxi driver, who worked out of the Middle Road, La Penitence base of the 007 taxi service, knew his attackers and was decoyed into the area where the hit was planned.

Police have launched an investigation into the shooting, but no arrest has been made up to press time.
