THE ladies ruled the roost when action in the Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) Lucozade Indoor league continued on Friday evening at the National Gymnasium.In Game one, the Hikers dominated their Spartan counterparts 6-1,at the close of play. Charlyn Elliot’s 4th Minute field goal for the Hikers was cancelled out by Mickelly Rahaman’s 8th Minute goal. However, Tikeisha DeLeon (11th) quicly returned the Hikers lead before Maryann Murray (14th) extended it to 3-1 at halfl time.
On the return, the Hikers scored a further three goals, one each from Latacia Chung (27th), Marisha Rodrigues (32nd) and Kenisha Wills (40th),to seal the game 6-1.
In the second game of the night, the Pizza Hut ladies thrashed their Old Fort counterparts 5-1,thanks to a double from Aliyah Gordon (2nd) and (17th),and Gabriella Xavier’s 18th minute strike which ended the half at 3-0.
Tricia Woodroffe (24th) and Xavier (35th) moved the game out of reach before PC (GCC) old fort pulled one back in the 36th.
Game three was between the GCC Vintage males and their St Stanislaus counterpart.It was a closer encounter,with the former winning 3-2.
Hilmar Chester’s 10th minute goal for saints was cancelled out by Eric Hing in the 16th; ending the half 1-1.
On the return,however, Hilton Chester’s 22nd minute strike gave St Stanislaus the lead the deserved,albeit brief as Dwayne Scott (24th) and (26th) ensured that GCC took the trophy.
The final game of the evening was a blowout of the GCC pitbulls by their Bounty opponents.
Kevin Spencer’s 3rd and 8th minute strikes gave the bounty side the advantage they needed before Kareem McKenzia, in the 12th minute, took the score to 3-0 at half time.
Michael Craig put his name on the score sheet in the 29th minute as the pitbulls scored their first goal of the game through Keon Mckenzie, just 50 seconds later.
Craig would return in the 35th for his second ,while Daniel Hooper (35th and 38th) would complete his double as well. Spencer completed his hat- trick in the 38th leaving the game at 8-0.
Matches continue on Wednesday at the National Gymnasium.
