Canoeing is a possible option

Dear Editor,

IS GUYANA fully prepared to take on the world in international track meets? Does Guyana have the resources available for such a major venture? Will Guyana continue to bank on ‘B’ standard time qualifications for international meets?I believe the time has come for Guyana to seek foreign consultation from experts for the way forward with track and field. If we continue on the same avenue on which we are threading, we will only continue to witness athletes making it to the first round of events. I make reference to the locally-based athletes. The foreign-based athletes might have a slight advantage.

Conversely, perhaps Guyana should consider taking up ‘Canoeing’ at the Olympic level. I witnessed some events at the ‘Rio 2016 Olympic Games’, and it is my belief that Guyana possesses such talent from the Amerindian/First People/Indigenous people’s communities.
