Vintage, Pitbulls among big winners on Friday

ACTION continued on Friday evening in the Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) Lucozade Indoor league at the National Gymnasium.In the first game, The GCC pitbulls beat St Stanislaus College 4-1,in a game which saw no scoring in the first half. Mark Sargent’s Hatrick (31st, 36th and 40th),coupled with Meshach Sargeant’s 25th minute strike accounted for the win.

Hilton Chester,in the 23rd minute,accounted for the lone St Stanislaus goal.

In game two, a women’s game where Hikers took on Old fort, the former won 3-0. Maria Munroe (15th), Annalisa Singh (31st) and Latacia Chung (38th), each converted successfully In the win.

Game three saw Vintage take advantage of Old Fort Knockers 8-1. Eric Hing opened the scoring in the 1st minute for the Vintage side before Dehron Wilkinson’s 2nd minute goal levelled it up. However, Hing returned in the 6th minute to complete his double before Devin Hooper (7th) and Philip Fernandes (12th and 15th) ended the half 5-1.

Dwayne Scott (26th and 33rd) took the lead further in the second half before Fernandes completed his hat-trick in the 38th min.

Game four saw a 3-3 draw between the GCC Pizza Hut ladies and their Spartan counterparts. Pizza Hut’s Tricia Feidtkou opened the scoring in the 3rd Minute before Shebiki Baptiste’s 8th Minute strike evened up the scoring, before the Spartans took the lead through Marzana Feidtkou in the12th Minute.

Leading at the half-way point, Dominique DeGroot (29th) extended the Spartan lead but Dacia Woodroffe (35th),and Rebecca Xavier (38th),brought the game level and denied the Spartans a win.

Game five was a tense affair between the Pepsi Hikers and the Old Fort Stallions;with the former winning 2-1. Jason Clarke’s 3rd minute strike was cancelled two minutes later by Randy Hope with no further strikes coming.

It would take a Jamarj Assanah’s 38th minute strike to tilt the game in favour of the Hikers.
