THE surging Victory Valley Royals will be on a mission to derail Retrieve Raiders when they clash tonight in the final of this year’s 3rd Rock Entertainment GT Beer Open basketball championship from 21:00hrs.But before the final, in the third place game, Kwakwani will be seeking to stop Half Mile Bulls from 19.00hrs at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court.
The Raiders, sitting as the number one-ranked team in Linden, will have to adjust themselves to the challenge of the third seeds Royals, who have shown a lot of form in twice disposing of the second-ranked Half Mile Bulls.
The Raiders, sporting players like Keon Cameron, Neil Marks, Omally Sampson and Dwayne Roberts, are expected to tighten their play after they halted the march of the Kwakwani side, who had looked dangerous in reaching the semifinals.
The Raiders were runners-up to the Half Mile Bulls in the Malta Supreme Christmas Championship, but were able to defeat the Bulls in their battle for the 104.3 Power FM Open Championship and finished second to Colts in the National Club championship.
The Royals will be led by Chris Williams, Harold Adams and Orlando Glasgow.
There will be several individual awards at stake including Most Valuable Player Award and another award will be for the Most Disciplined Team.
