ELISA Hamilton, the region’s top 2014 Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) student, has continued to show excellence in her academic endeavours, again performing well, this time in the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE).

After receiving her CAPE results, the young woman took to social media site Facebook to express her gratitude to those who had aided her along the way. She also posted that she gained Grade One passes in Biology Unit 2, Caribbean Studies, Environmental Science Unit 1, Physics Unit 1, and Pure Mathematics Unit 1.
She also gained Grade Two passes in Chemistry Unit 2 and Spanish Unit 1.
She has recognized her teachers, friends and family members, whom she described as being “awesome”.
After paying President David Granger a courtesy call last week, Hamilton is expected to depart Guyana for the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus on Thursday. She successfully acquired her Presidential Scholarship to pursue studies in the area of medicine.
The Queen’s College student wrote 20 CXC subjects and acquired 19 grade ones, including 16 distinctions and a Grade Two two years ago.
Another Queen’s College student, Ashley Anthony, daughter of former Minister Dr Frank Anthony, who secured 17 Grade Ones last year, was also elated after receiving her CXC results. In her Facebook post, she sent out “big thanks to my parents, teachers and friends.”
She received Grade Ones in the areas of Applied Mathematics Unit 1, Biology Unit 1, Caribbean Studies, Chemistry Unit 1, Physics Unit 1 and Pure Mathematics Unit One.
Chief Education Officer Olato Sam has said the Ministry of Education is preparing a report on the examination results for dissemination at a press conference to be held this week.
