– Franchise has new management
THE New Miss India Guyana organisation has launched its search for a new queen, who will compete in the Miss India Worldwide Pageant in New Jersey this October.
Former beauty pageant contestant Umadevi Bux was Wednesday named as the new director of the pageant, saying it has no affiliation with the previous direct Chandini Rambalak or its entertainment house Apsara.
“The pageant will offer a vibrant opportunity for young Guyanese women of Indian decent, offering them a platform to better themselves not only as beauty Ambassadors, but also as young leaders,” the new management stated.
“This will give the participants the opportunity to build on their interpersonal
skills, community involvement, self- confidence, communication skills, leadership skills, interview skills, and poise!”
Others on the new management team are Rishma Persaud of RP Couture, Jason Shurland of Rockerz Designs, Keisha Edwards of Shasha Designs (Designers), John Greene (Photographer), Derek Moore (Creative Director and Pageant Coach), Jyoti Hardat (Production Manager), Tenisha Garnett-Billington (Make-Up Artist), Noshavyah King (Certified Fitness Trainer), Seon Barrington (Media Coordinator).
Applications for the 2016 Miss India Guyana Pageant are available online at the official website (missindiaguyana.org).
The National Pageant auditions for the contestants are estimated to take place during the first week of September 2016. Since the Franchise was only acquired in late July and limited time given to the new management, the pageant format for 2016 will take the form of an online voting process for the applicants.
This will be opened to the public via Social Media, resulting in people’s choice finalists with the most likes and votes, which will make up 40 per cent of the total score, from this the top 10 contestants with the most votes and likes will be invited to compete for the remaining 60 per cent. The remaining 60 per cent will be tabulated based on the talent and interview segments.
The panel of Miss India Guyana Organization team members will be judging the final two segments and it will be open to public audience, free of cost!
However, if any member from the team of judges identifies any young woman from the list of contestants, who did not make the top 10 people’s choice voting, but is an exceptional candidate in talent, personality and embodies the qualities of Miss India Guyana Motto, the individual/s will also be invited to compete in the remaining two segments, for the 60 per cent of total score aiding in an over-all winner.
The winner of Miss India Guyana Pageant 2016 will be given a complete wardrobe from the Miss India Guyana Organization and its designers for the week of the competition activities and exclusive international designer outfits for the final competition night, a full make-up class package sponsored by Flawless, Tenisha Garnett and a full photo-shoot session sponsored by John Greene Photography.
The winner will also be flaunting a genuine handmade, Austrian Swarovski crystal, and gold plated crown – marking Guyana’s 50th Anniversary. As well as, she will be receiving a stipend every month for the duration of her reign.
“Miss India Guyana Organization, under the new Directorship seeks to embody a pageant of fairness and equality for every woman, who wishes to participate.
“Our mission is to find a well-rounded beauty Ambassador, who is radiantly beautiful from the inside out.
