Homeless man remanded after allegedly damaging car windows

A HOMELESS man was remanded to prison on Wednesday by city Magistrate Judy Latchman for the offence of damage to property.Randolph Dean Mendonza, 42, pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on July 29 at Alexander Village, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged Ganesh Rampersaud’s car rearview windows valued $15,000.
Mendonza told the court that he was homeless and does odd jobs around the La Penitence market to earn a living. The man further explained that his life was stress-free, since he earned a daily income of $1,000 on the streets.
Surprisingly, the accused started dancing in the prisoner’s dock, even though his feet were shackled. He was ordered by the magistrate to compose himself. Mendonza was unpresented and was remanded to prison until September 10.
