A TWENTY-YEAR-OLD Sand Creek village, West Rupununi resident was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment on Wednesday by Magistrate Judy Latchman after he pleaded guilty to the charge of break and enter and larceny.Tiberius Spencer confessed to breaking into the shop of Sharon-Ann Fredricks between July 5 and July 6 at Saint Ignatius Village, Central Rupununi and stealing two boxes of chicken, 23 pounds of pork, 30 pounds of fish and other items totalling $166,060.
According to police prosecutor Corporal Kerry Boswick, on July 6 around 07:00hrs, the woman observed that the eastern wooden door of the shop was open and the items missing.
The matter was reported to the police and on August 2, Spencer was arrested while attempting to cross over to Brazil. A police officer grilled him about the break and enter allegation and he confessed to committing the crime with another individual.
