JAMAICA’s Jaheel Hyde continued to do his country proud on the world stage, copping yet another title, this time Gold at the IAAF World Under 20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.Hyde hit the line in 49.03 seconds to outdo the personal best effort of Taylor McLaughlin, who finished in 49.45 seconds.
Kyron McMasters of the British Virgin Islands, 49.56, performed wonderfully for his bronze medal, a new National Under 20 record.
Rounding out the field were Mikael de Jesus of Brazil, 50.06, Tatsuhiro Yamamoto of Japan, 50.99, Debin Gong of China, 51.03, Yoshiro Watanabe also o Japan, 51.09 and Mohamed Feres Jlassi of Tunisia, 52.14.
Hyde’s gold medal brings Jamaica’s tally to two of the same quality, while taking the overall count to five.
Tiffany James won Gold in the women’s 400 metres, while Junelle Bromfield copped a bronze medal. In the women’s 400-metres hurdles, Shannon Kalawan held on to a bronze medal, while Nigel Ellis won the country’s other medal, a bronze in the 200 metres.
