GUYANA’S female team suffered their third straight loss in the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) U-16 Championships on Thursday evening. The host team lost to Antigua and Barbuda by 32 points, score ending 62-30. Guyana’s defence forced 63 Antiguan turnovers but the local girls simply lacked the shooting touch to make a strong enough statement on the offensive end of the court.
However, Antigua pounded the Guyanese inside the paint with Britnay Gore dropping 25 points and 17 rebounds with Karel Knight adding 11 points for the visitors.
Jada Mohan once again fired, recording half of the team’s total with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Mohan had a good shooting night from the free-throw line, hitting 11-19 shots but went 2-29 from the field.
The loss for Guyana means that the host nation have finished in the cellar position of the seven-team championship.
