Digicel Senior Squash Championships 2016

Jeffrey, Arjoon ,Khalil and Joseph move into semi-finals

THE Georgetown Club Squash Courts was a hive of activity on Friday evening when night three of the Digicel Senior National Squash Championships continued there.Play continued on night 3 with the quarter- finals of the Mens Open, opening round of the Plate matches and a continuation of matches in the Veterans categories.
In the first men’s quarter-finals, Kristian Jeffrey proved too good for Raphael De Groot ,winning in straight sets 11/6, 11/5, 11/7 while Jason Ray Khalil took on Regan Pollard.
Jason won a close first game 11/8 and an even closer second game 11/9. By this time Regan was totally exhausted but still fought hard before losing the third game 7/11.
No 1 seed Alex Arjoon was matched up against Javed Alli with the former running rampant in a comfortable 11/5, 11/6, 11/1 win while defending champion Nyron Joseph was made to work for his win over Ben Mekdeci.
Spectators were looking forward to a close game between these two players but on this day Nyron would prove to be too good. He was a straight set winner 11/2, 11/8, 11/8.
In the Women’s plate, Rebecca Low defeated Maya Collins 11/7, 11/2, 11/4 while Victoria Arjoon ousted Makeda Harding 11/7, 11/4, 11/7.
In the Men’s Plate, Alex Cheeks hammered Darren Mc Donald 11/2, 11/2, 11/9, Daniel Islam won against Jonathan Antczak 11/3, 11/1, 11/9, Anthony Islam defeated Medhi Ramdhani 9/11, 11/7, 11/6, 13/11and Alec Melville sent Rithew Saywack packing 11/9, 11/9, 11/9.
Veterans action saw Joe Mekdeci overcome Douglas De Groot 11/4, 11/6, 11/7, Medhi Ramdhani terror David Fernandes 8/11, 13/11, 11/7, 11/7 and Garfield Wiltshire beat Javed Alli 11/6, 9/11, 12/10, 11/5.
On Saturday, Javed Alli defeated Joe Mekdeci 11/6, 5/11, 11/7, 11/8 while Garfield Wiltshire overcame Douglas De Groot 11/9, 11/5, 11/7.
