THE Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) is sending two teams to New York to take part in the New York Softball Cricket League (NYSCL) 12th annual Independence and Legends Cup tournaments starting this Friday and ending on Sunday.The two teams are Floodlights and Floodlights Legends. They will take part in the Masters category called the Legend Cup. Floodlight won the Legend Cup in July 2015 last year when they defeated local counterparts Regal Masters in a thrilling final played at Roy Wilkinson Park in Queens.
New York Mercenaries were the champions in the Open Category called the Independence Cup. Ricky Deonarain will skipper defending champions Floodlights, while Ramo Malone will be his deputy. Lalta Gainda is skipper for Floodlights Legends and Lakhram Singh is vice-captain.
