IT seems as if no human being will be able to find out the truth about the incident involving the alleged pushing over the rails of the poor student, Joshua Lionel. It’s a real pity that the school nor the ministry sees it fit to do a release on the incident. The money collected was never handed over and it seems as if the head teacher is bent on her ways. I will let the issue rest for now and will deal with some other issues of equal importance.Firstly, matters concerning the head teacher. According to reports, she does a business on the school premises. She sells articles and has a number of customers who work at the school. She uses her office as a prayer hall. Some teachers are of the view that she is even biased towards certain students and teachers. I wouldn’t want to imagine that she discriminates on the basis of race.
Secondly, the second person in charge of the school. She doesn’t do much and has to rely entirely on the Head to make decisions. She is being treated like dirt by some very powerful female teachers in the school. They are the untouchables. They can do as they want when they want.
Next is the third person in charge. According to information received, he is not working at the moment. He is known to be very arrogant and aggressive. He hits the students and at one time he had to be physically separated from a child. He was choking the student. He even flirts openly with female staff of the school. On several occasions he has had altercations with several female teachers. Reports of such behaviour were never taken by the head.
The next issue of concern is the prominent religious leader. Who authorised him in the first place to make a collection for the student? Is that legal? It makes me wonder if the school is a place of worship or an institution of learning. This teacher is allowed to go to school dressed with his clothing for worship. He cannot perform adequately. There are reports that he preaches radicalism in his religious club at the school. A few students even voiced their concern that they feel as if they are being indoctrinated by this individual. Come on parents –are you going to allow such a person to be around your children? His calmness, generosity and cool temperament is just a guise to promote religious extremism.
My other concern dear editor is related to the admin staff in general. Teachers report that they cannot even use the computer lab. The teacher in charge uses it for his own benefit. Not even the head teacher has a key in her possession when he is absent. The entire school stands still when he is not around. One senior female is the sidekick for the head. She always jumps in whenever there is any issue being discussed. Of course, her friend the head teacher allows her to have her way. She was allowed to go to university in Georgetown for four years. The time book shows that on most occasions he was on duty. How can something like this miss the officials at the ministry? The students fear her because of her pompous behaviour. Another female head of department is a staunch supporter of the head. Despite the errors of the head teacher, she still supports. Teachers in her department are subjected to daily torment by her. She is very loose with her language and just doesn’t care. She even slapped a student and the parent went into the school and made a scene. The police were even involved. She even uses bad language against other teachers. And still another female head of department feels out of place so she will regularly take teachers to the head and give lots of complaints. She stirs up trouble by getting information from the students and using that information as her guide to sink the teachers. Perhaps she hopes to achieve a friendship with the head. She is so nice that she was able to break up a private lesson and get most of the students for herself. Another female head acts like the police inspector. She inspects all the teachers in her department. She torments them daily and puts a lot of strain and tension to the profession of teacher. One of the head teacher’s friends is a junior teacher whose strength is her speech. That’s all she does, talk all the time.
It seems dear editor that the admin staff are the only sensible people of the school and the junior teachers are the fools .Ask the three teachers who were suspended and the others who were transferred. Ask the former remedial teacher who was treated like a little girl and was placed in a stinking classroom to teach. Ask all the teachers and staff who resigned from the school. All these matters need to be investigated. It’s troubling and no teacher has the gall to talk to the head about this. She just doesn’t care. I dare them to behave arrogantly against my child. It would not end like it did the last time.
