TECHNOLOGY giant STARR Computer Wednesday launched its business centre to provide start-up businesses, small to medium and corporate businesses with Information Technology (IT) Solutions in the area of mobility, point of sale (POS), security, training and cloud computing.Speaking with the media at the Head Office, Brickdam, Georgetown, President of STARR Computer, Mike Mohan, said “that businesses cannot afford to operate the way they did 10 years ago.”
“It is businesses that adapt to technology that will be more productive, efficient and provide better customer services. Technology in business, transforms businesses,” he stated.
As the leading and most experienced Point of Sale (POS) hardware provider in Guyana, Mohan said the company is now moving beyond POS systems and engaging its customers on the future of IT in business.
Emphasising that companies in Guyana are not realising their true potential since they are utilising traditional methods of operation, Mohan said that STARR Computer is not only a reseller of IT solutions, but also a company that fully utilises the technology it resells. Utilisation of such technology allows STARR to better equip its customers operation.
At the event, an exciting new product was demonstrated in the form of a video doorbell buzzer for the entrances of buildings, offices or homes. The user simply presses a button at the entrance of the doorway and the alert rings on the owner’s smartphone with live video feed.
Also on display were the touch-screen POS solutions, portable printer, portable point of sale equipment and a biometric system amongst others.
Touching on the current trends, General Manager Rehman Majeed stated that he has seen a heightened demand by local companies seeking advice to enhance their current POS systems, so as to be more productive and to respond better to customer needs.
He said consultations, recommendations and proposals are provided at no cost to businesses. Many companies are also looking for reliability with their hardware purchases and therefore seek reputable brands that STARR Computer resells.
