POLICE have issued a wanted bulletin for Janiel Howard, called ‘JP’, who is wanted for questioning in relation to the grenade-lobbing incident that occurred outside the premises of Kaieteur News two Saturdays ago.The 30-year-old Howard, listed as a resident of Lot 322 Section ‘C’, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, is wanted for allegedly ‘attempting to cause explosion’ in an act which occurred on June 06, 2016 at Saffon Street, Charlestown Georgetown, the police said in a release.

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Janiel Howard, called ‘JP’, is asked to contact the nearest police station.
This is the second man for whom the police have issued a wanted bulletin in relation to the grenade attack on Kaieteur News owner Glenn Lall.
Police are, meanwhile, still looking for 20-year-old Shemar Wilson, called ‘Abdue’, in connection with the same incident. Police believe he is a key player in the attack. Wilson is said to be from Lot 43 North Sophia, Georgetown and Lot 51 West La Penitence, Georgetown. This newspaper understands that Wilson’s mother has since moved out of her Sophia home.
Police apprehended another suspect on Saturday night as multiple persons remain in their custody. Initially, 12 persons were in custody, including the 19-year-old driver of Toyota Spacio PSS 5252 which police found abandoned near Norton Street and Mandela Avenue shortly after the grenade was thrown at Lall’s vehicle. The car has been impounded at the East La Penitence Police Station.
This vehicle reportedly belongs to a Kitty businesswoman, who had rented it to the young driver. Shortly after the grenade attack, the 19-year-old driver gave conflicting reports to ranks at the Alberttown Police Station, but several persons were subsequently arrested for questioning. However, based on investigations, Wilson appears to have the answers police are seeking. This investigation is being spearheaded by ‘A’ Division Commander Clifton Hicken, and involves ranks from the Major Crimes Unit. Hicken has said he would do whatever it takes and will go as far as it takes to solve this case.
When the device was tossed at the publisher’s vehicle, a security staffer had heard an unusual sound near the Lexus SUV which was parked on the western side of Saffon Street. Upon checking, the staffer spotted the grenade lying near the right front wheel.
Staffers were, at the time, participating in a wake for Assistant Editor Dale Andrews, who had passed away earlier the same day. Video footage from a Kaieteur News CCTV camera showed the grey Spacio heading north, but slowing as it approached Lall’s vehicle. The vehicle then accelerated after the device was thrown.
