Four in a row

DRAKE’S new album, ‘Views’, has remained at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart for four straight weeks, as it continues to rock up record-streaming numbers. The album sold an equivalent 189,000 album units to retain its top spot on the chart. 50,000 units of that sale equates to pure album sales, Nielsen Music reported. Let’s not forget that ‘Views’ sold over a million equivalent units in the first week of release, and was streamed over half-a-billion times in that said week.
Billboard reported that Drake spent more weeks at No. 1 than any other male artiste in the last four years.
Michael Buble was the last male artiste to achieve five consecutive weeks at No. 1 in 2011 with his Christmas album.
There are also reports that Drake’s third week streaming numbers were bigger than all other artistes’ first week streaming numbers in history.
As at the time of this publication, the first four weeks streaming record now belong to ‘Views’.
This is Drake season indeed. (urbanislandz.com)
