Two security guards attached to the Regional Democratic Office (RDC) at BV Triumph, East Coast Demerara, are lucky to be alive after four men armed with handguns, stormed the building in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to a police report, the robbery occurred at approximately 02:00 hrs; the men relieved one the two security guards of cash and valuables, tied them up and proceeded to torch two safes in the building where they carted off an undisclosed sum of cash.

No arrests have been made as investigations continue.
