THE police have arrested an alleged rapist on the Essequibo Coast, Divisional Commander Kevin Adonis has confirmed.Supenaam residents expressed their fears after the suspect brutally raped a young Supenaam mother of two recently. Reports revealed that the woman was physically attacked and raped last Friday night.

She was admitted to the Suddie Public Hospital, where she was treated for a cut sustained, while attempting to ward off a knife which was placed to her throat by the rapist.

Residents have concluded that the individual in question is a dangerous character to the community.
According to the woman, she had ventured into her yard to use the bathroom when she was attacked and raped by a man who had frequented her shop on several occasions.

The woman said she was being trailed and even threatened by the rapist. She said that she recognised the man since he called out her name and warned her not to scream.
