—Julian Wade nets helmet-trick for Slingerz

SLINGERZ Football Club demolished Fruta Conquerors by a `whopping’ 8-1 margin, while Pele marched past the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) 3-1, when play in the 12th round of action in the Guyana Football Federation’s Stag Elite League continued at the Leonora Sports Facility, West Coast Demerara on Friday evening.Slingerz’s Julian Wade was relentless throughout the second half of play, finding the back of Fruta Conquerors’ net in the 47th, 76th, 85th and 86th minutes, while team-mates Trayon Bobb and Domini Garnett were no less merciful as they both netted doubles.
Bobb opened the scoring for the West Demerara- based Slingerz in the 31st minute and recorded his double in the 88th minute. Garnett on the other hand recorded his double in the 70th and 89th minutes.
Scoring for Fruta Conquerors was Eon Alleyne, who found his target in the 45th (+4) minute.
The win for Slingerz is their 11th from 12 matches and they are still at the top of the points table with 34 points. They drew one of their matches and to date have scored 35 goals while conceding seven for a plus 28 goal difference.
Fruta Conquerors remain second in the points standing with 28 points after 12 matches. They have won nine, lost two and drew one and scored 30 goals while conceding 21.
In the opening game of the double-header card, Dwayne Lawrence, Solomon Austin and Anthony `Awo’ Abrams scored for Alpha United in the 52nd, 68th and 79th minutes, while Delroy Fraser netted for the soldiers.
The win for Pele takes them to 17 points from five wins, five losses and two drawn games. To date, they have scored 14 goals and conceded 15. GDF on the other hand is fifth in the points standing with 14 points from their 12 matches. They have won four, lost six and drew two and scored 18 goals, but conceded 25.
GDF is down to be in action once again tonight at the same venue against Monedderlust in the opening game of another double-header card, while Fruta Conquerors is scheduled to meet Georgetown Football Club in the feature game.
