THE unwavering support towards the sporting fraternity and non-charitable organisations by government continued yesterday when the National Sports Commission (NSC) made several donations to numerous sport bodies and organisations to aid with the development of their respective disciplines. At a simple ceremony held at the NSC office, Homestretch Avenue, Technical Development Officer Seon Erskine made the presentation in the absence of Director of Sport Christopher Jones.
Prior to the presentation, Erskine indicated that the NSC is dedicated to the development of youths and sports in general.
He noted that the NSC is always open to assist, but this is based on timely request. Erskine alluded to the importance of sports while urging the various entities to continue their good work.
The entities that benefited from the venture are the Carl Hooper Cricket Club (Buxton), Best United Group (Region Three), Friendship All-Stars (East Bank Demerara), West Ruimveldt Church Group, Nuggets Youths and Sports Club (Lichfield Village, WCB), Signature Production (Georgetown) and Belle View CDC (West Bank Demerara).
All the recipients expressed gratitude to the NSC for their input adding that it will help to motivate the various sporting bodies to strive for greater heights. (Rajiv Bisnauth)
