A fight with bandits on Monday night has left 45-year-old Rawle De Mattos with several chop wounds to the head.
The Guyana Chronicle understands that at about 21:10hrs, De Mattos of Free Yard, Port Mourant, was about to enter his premises when he was held up by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun and the other with a cutlass.
According to a police report, he put up a resistance during which he was chopped to the head and the perpetrators took away a cell phone, $6,000 and escaped. De Mattos has been admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital and investigations are in progress.
