A 22-YEAR-OLD West Ruimveldt resident was on Thursday released on $25,000 bail by city Magistrate Faith McGusty after being charged for damage to property. It is alleged that Paul Smith of 505 West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, on April 20 at North Road, Georgetown, damaged the left window of minibus BRR 8408, valued $40,000, property of Clark Murray.
Smith denied the charge.
Prosecutor Seon Blackman opposed Smith being granted bail, since he had no fixed place of abode and had given the court conflicting addresses.
However, the 22-year-old was quick to respond and said that he resides with his aunt in West Ruimveldt.
The magistrate granted the accused bail and adjourned the matter until May 13.
